Grief

So many people run from pain. We push it down and lock it away. Sorrow is perceived as weakness, adorned in shame. We give depression power by closing our eyes and hoping that if we don't look it will go away on its own. It doesn't. It festers.

I say look at it. Stare it down. The truth is that being vulnerable isn't weakness. Its strength. Take a moment to marvel at sorrow. It is part of what makes us human. It's part of what makes us beautiful. There is no shame in sadness. It connects us all. When you stop hiding and see it for what it is, you take the power away.
